Gmail is now recognising .ME domains

Until this weekend Google Mail was ignoring .me domains leaving them as plain text, so one needed to make links out of them manually. But now it is all done automatically for you:

Plain text as typed

To see it yourself, just type e-mail text as usual and either save it as a draft and open to see all .me links converted into URLs or simply send it.

Shame, Google is wasting gmail.me domain. At least their trade mark advisor Mark Monitor was smart enough and bought the domain name during the land rush.

In Germany, the company is not allowed to use the phrase gmail (including gmail.com) at all: http://www.dmueller.com/2008/06/12/internet/gmailcom-not-accessible-from-germany-anymore/
