Late.ly etc

Surprise, surprise, late.ly was registered by Matt Mullenweg, a WordPress founder. Matt loves domains hacks and he probab.ly already has something in mind of it. In any case, it is a good token for .ly's.

In last two months, the Libyan registry was busy with cashing in, people final.ly started to buy .ly's.

So during 9th-12th of December Libyan Spider grabbed the most attractive domains, still available and will probably resell them as premium. Few of those missing now on the prime market: annual.ly, common.ly, general.ly, home.ly, immediate.ly, nice.ly, private.ly, prompt.ly, random.ly, rapid.ly, quarter.ly, sole.ly, special.ly, successful.ly... Good jingles, without any doubt.

Other good domains: elegant.ly, legal.ly, and logical.ly. Still quite few available.

You are certain.ly right, these domains will pick up, without any doubt.

Although, I prefer not to call them domain hacks but domain jingles. Sounds so much better.

I agree with you marko, “domain jingles” sound nice :), there are about 18573 words ends with ly, according to nic.ly there are only (3659) registered domains that is in total, means this number includes domain names that doesn’t end with ly, so there is still strong availability and strong chance for who looking for memorable catchy domain.

if is allowed to write in here the steps on how someone can search and check the big list, my idea is to make to easy for everyone to:

1- check the big list that has about 300,000 domain jingles, so you will be able to see the 18573 words ends with ly.

2- check the availability using the whois server of .ly domains.

3- showing you where you could register them easi.ly

these three steps missing the links, so if I get permission to add the links I will.

multip.ly can have a potential trademark dispute with multiply.com.
the rest are fine, I believe.

Although, I have not seen any trademark hold by multiply, probably difficult to get. To general and is used everywhere else (http://multiply.com/info/corp).

The only issue with .ly experienced up to today were so called Middle East fallouts, but that only if you want to change your dns.

As one does it only once in a while, when migrating to the other server, its bearable price for nice domain hacks, don’t you agree?

    Red Irish:

In 2008 Matt Mullenweg [a.k.a. Ma.tt] also went for domain ear.ly. In 2009 he had prolonged his .ly domains for another year but they all are down. Not so much boiling for the moment. Any insights?
